    I'm Toltu Tufa, the founder of Shura Psychology!

     

    I'm an Australian based practicing psychologist, a female psychologist and a Muslim psychologist.

     

    As an award winning TEDx speaker and educator, I'm known for creating inclusive and culturally sensitive practices, even in the trickiest of workplaces.

     

    It is the hallmark of my work, and along with my focus on healthcare professionals, uplifting people like you is the driving force behind my culture of care.

    With almost two decades of experience working in healthcare, I support diverse medical professionals, including directors, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and paramedics.

     

    Of course, I could also tell you all the fun stuff about myself, like my Myers Briggs Personality Profile (yes, I’m an ESFJ!), or that my go-to app on my phone is Duolingo, because it encapsulates my love of languages and connection.

     

    But as a founder of a psychology practice, I understand the formal stuff matters too.

    My training and tools

    As a female psychologist and a Muslim psychologist, my style is always person centred.

     

    I use a 'trauma-informed' approach which means I will interact with you in a ways that protect your trust and safety.

     

    When you’re in a session with me, you will notice my warm and acknowledging approach; I will encourage you towards change in a direct and empathetic way.

     

    Some of my clinical tools that I use include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and mindfulness based strategies.
